More Bear Lake

Tricia was heading up to Bear Lake and since Troy had to work on the 24th of July, we decided to head up with her and make a party of it.  We got up to the condo in time for lunch and Mason to take a nap, so the kids got some good bike riding time in.  Then we hit the beach.  Mason attacked this huge sandcastle someone had built on the beach earlier in the day.  It was almost leveled by the time we left.

Here's the gang.  Even though the water wasn't terribly warm, but warmer than it was earlier this month, the kids swam and swam and swam.  They also found lots of shells and of course Ethan found lots of rocks.  All sizes of rocks.

Friday was a repeat of Thursday.  We went to the park, road bikes, had ice cream, swam at the pool (during Mason's nap), watched a movie, played mini-golf and the girls even made a craft at the craft center.  It's such a great place to hang out with the kids, I even got an entire book read while the kids swam at the pool and beach.  Summer doesn't get much better than this.  Well, except if Troy could enjoy it with us... it's a good thing that he'd rather be fishing than on a beach, because he did sneak in a little fishing with his brother on Thursday.

Thunder and Lightening

Growing up I remember sitting on the back porch with my mom and/or brother and sisters to watch lightening storms.  I just love the smell of the rain, feel of the air, sound of the thunder and of course the amazing patterns of light the lightening would make in the sky.  I have been a little disappointed these past 4 years, that I've lived back in Utah, that I haven't really seen any lightening storms.

Well, last night I was heading to bed around midnight and the lightening started.  It was coming out of thick clouds and lighting up the valley.  It was beautiful and just the perfect temperature to sit in and watch the clouds and lightening.  (I tried to get some pictures and they didn't turn out, but I found a couple someone else took last night of the same storm).  I ended up going to bed around 1 am because I just had to sit out on the deck in the storm.  It was absolutely wonderful.  Around 12:40 the rain started to pound and I had to go in the house.  The streets were just running with water, so I do hope no one got flooded last night.  But I'm glad I didn't miss it, it's already hot and sunny outside today and I would have never have known a storm came through last night.

Surprise, surprise!

Surprise!  Look who came to visit on Saturday.  Morgan's BFF!!  Like Oh, my Heavens!  They were too cute together and just had a blast running around all day.  Ethan and Jonah were pretty tight too.  Just party after party.  These past two days have been very dull for the kids.  No cousins popping in and out, no friends to stop and visit, no neighbor kids in town, just boring old mom who wants to read her book.  And too my credit, I've played a lot of games yesterday and today... the kids have just been spoiled with lots of people around.  I'm sure we'll survive...  ok, now I sound just as bad, I must have been spoiled too.  5 weeks of adult conversation and my kids entertained, loven' it.

Friday's BBQ

On Friday, July 18th, we had some of Carlin's friends from HS and their families over for some dinner and water slide fun.  Becky, Carol and Belinda all came with their families, together there were 14 kids running around.  Two were beautiful baby girls (I didn't get any pictures of).  The kids got a long as if they have always been friends, it was a lot of fun to see everyones families.  Becky was kind enough to bring her cotton candy machine.  It was the hit of the evening, even Santa enjoyed it.

Bear Lake

What would summer be with out a trip up to Bear Lake.  We had the Tingey reunion up there this past week and had a great time.  The cousins ran around together, we ate lots of ice cream, everyone got lots of turns in the tube and Uncle Justin even dumped Grant and Uncle Mikey.  It was just one big long sleep over.  Grant even got to ride a sea doo without an adult this year!  He also did a little knee boarding, but didn't want to try skiing -- he wants to stick with wake boarding.

4th of July

The 4th really begins on the 3rd of July around here.  The city of NSL does a great 20 min. fire work show on the golf course on the 3rd of July.  Brady's family came and had dinner with us, even though our air conditioning went out on us earlier in the afternoon.  Then some of the Egan's from Betsy's family joined us for our trek up the hill to the golf course to watch the fire work show.  We had a little ice cream afterwards trying to cool off in our 85 degree house.  It's the first year we didn't wear jackets or wrap up in our blankets on the way home from the show.

The next morning we slept in a bit and then got up to go to the Centerville parade.  Great Grandma was there and she was telling the kids she hadn't ever missed the parade since they moved to Centerville after WWII! Impressive.  Of course the high light of the parade for the kids is running around collecting the candy being thrown from the floats.

Then, July 5th, we celebrated Whitney's birthday with a super hero birthday party!  Boy did Jamie go all out.  They had a pinata, water slide and water games, games when the kids attacked Brady, food and a very cool super hero cake.  Everyone had a great time.  Happy Birthday Whitney!
