Troy and I were invited to be guests in DC of Congressman Chris Stewart along with 15 other people. Troy planned some meetings out there earlier in the week and then I flew out on Thursday for the activities. We had a wonderful time and we stayed in a beautiful hotel on the wharf. I included the itinerary because it's better than my memory. Due to rain we weren't able to climb the 350 stairs to the top of the dome, but we instead met in the room where they meet to discuss intelligence stuff, Troy help me with that. See itinerary is better.
The two highlights for me were touring the library of congress and having a rare books tour. That was very fascinating and we were able to see early Books of Mormon and other Church History books and documents. We were also able to see the original pamphlet/book that Galileo wrote on his discoveries about the moon. Amazing.
Also meeting with Director Larry Kudrow in the white house debriefing rooms. Loved hearing his view on things and fun to meet staff and people working in that part of the white house and their experiences working there.
Dinner Friday night was amazing and yummy. Over the top definately. Oh, and I was impressed that everyone we spoke with spoke very highly of Melanie Trump the First Lady. There are always comedy jokes and rude things said about her on TV and in the news. I've been very impressed by her when we see her in a positive light. She speaks 6 languages, is well dressed and well traveled and is always kind to people even when they aren't to her. It was nice to hear that she is really well liked. That has to be difficult when your husband, the President, doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut and be kind. I'm a fan of the tax cuts Trump has made, but not of him as an individual. I didn't even like him when we lived in NYC. Still a wonderful trip.
