August Reflections

Troy didn't make it backpacking/fishing in the Uintas with Ethan, since Ethan passed out and fell down some rocks and broke his jaw!  He decided to take the girls :)  they had a lot of fun and Morgan caught and gutted and ate her own fish!

Ethan and mom doing some morning biking... we'll we stopped a lot many a morning for Ethan to catch some pokemon... hmmm.
Victor and MJ got engaged, getting married September 24th with a little girl on the way in December or January :)  Oh, yeah.  Soon to be grandparents!  What?  I know, love those little babies, but not so sure about being called gma and papa. hahaha

Morgan worked for Huntsman in SLC this summer and was awesome and wonderful and was a busy bee.
Then we headed up to Idaho for the annual Keller Reunion!  We stayed at Kim and Sheree's and got to feed some roaches to Shep's very cool lizard/bearded dragon.  Very fun trip and it was great to see the entire Keller family.  The only two not there was Grant, still serving in France and Victor, planning a wedding.

The youth did baptisms with McCall and Preston doing the baptizing!  Very cool and Grandma and I got the sweet privilege of handing out the towels.  Then to the roller rink the next morning and a fun filled day at aunt betsy's!

Our drive home to Texas through Colorado and New Mexico!  Some how Percy survived our crazy summer of running around.  Thanks to Kat and Kyle and my parents for often babysitting the dog!  And our very nice neighbor kid who fed and took care of the turtles, they were very much a live and well when we got home.

Home to rain and allergy testing for my two babies, so sorry.  We are going to start allergy shots this fall... sorry if that is too much information!
Late night of work so we took dinner to dad at his office.  We got which wich sandwiches which is Ethan's favorite sandwich place, very good.

first day of school and seminary pictures.  And breakfast experiments for 5:15 breakfasts!  Love my seminary class they are wonderful.  Had a great first week teaching them!  And I have the best team teacher, who heads off to teach 5th grade science after teaching early morning seminary.  I hope blessing are dumped on her all year!

In all the rain we have been getting we found this little baby turtle in our swimming pool one afternoon.  We've named him Yoda and Ethan released gerbil back into the pond behind our home, where he had caught him.  The bigger turtle is Myrtle, who ethan caught back in Kaysville pond before we moved to Texas.

Happy Birthday to ME!  and Morgan played during the class changes at back to school night!  Phew the month is over and gone.  On to September!

Letter from Grant - August 29th

Funny experience of the week. We went to a Latina members house to
give the mother a blessing with the Spanish sisters. All was going
fine, we talked about what she has been going through, gave her a
spiritual thought and it was all just great. She asks me to do the
blessing I put my hands on her head and her little boy starts
screaming his head off. She picks him up and he dies down to a
whimper. I start the blessing (I started kinda fast so that I wouldn't
forget all five of her names) and part way through the blessing the
boy starts balling again. He continues for a few seconds and then goes
silent. Thinking this is a blessing from God I happily continue the
blessing. When I finish I look down to find that she is Brest reading
her two year old with not one but two exposed breasts. A little taken
back I look away and unfortunately made eye contact with the giggling
sisters. Ethan, you better be counting down the days until you can go
on a mission.

Jamel - completely lost contact. She sent us a text saying she was
hospitalized, sounds like she was there for a few days and then she
never responded to our texts or calls not even the texts and calls of
members. Literally have no idea where she went. Could be in Utah for
all we know.

Ali - doing better, slowly but surely. He looks happier and happier
every day. He has been reading more.

Serge - Finally came to church!! It's been so long! He came and stayed
all three hours and we fixed a rendez vous to have family home evening
with him later this week with two other super members! It's going to
be a BLAST!

Dennis - still won't stop talking about his magical orchestra and all
of the instruments he has made and plans on making. But he accepted
the plan of salvation as doctrine and brought a friend to church named
Madame Claude. She was a nice lady in her fifties that believes that
the Catholic Church has strayed to far off the path. She wouldn't fix
another rendez-vous(as we taught her the restoration before church)
but promised to come next Sunday. That should be cool.

pics:
Burger place called Holy Cow, expensive, but super good.
The Tahitain elders invited us to eat roquefort beef pasta. Very different, oddly good. However I probably won't be eating cheese for few days.
For lunch Elder Underwood and I mixed two hymns together. It was kinda fun. :)

Subject: Lunch is Free

We taught and fixed some appointments with a handful of people this
week of whom was a cool family of three and a guy from annecy and a
hobo(Swiss hobos dress like the average French person and somehow wash
their clothes and don't smell like poop.)

We helped a nice old lady take down a bench. That was good fun. She
gave us groceries for the week afterwords! Haha, we were talking about
how funny the culture in our church is to just feed and give stuff so
freely to missionaries. I guess it goes along with the words the
savior said when he told his apostles to not take with them purse nor
script. Do the work and the lord provides lunch :P

Jamel, got super sick and couldn't come to church nor get her
baptismal interview done because she was in the hospital for two days
and still at home. We were joking because she hadn't seen any
opposition in a while and then BAM she can't leave the house. Her
baptism might get pushed off. We need to talk to her.

Serge, came back from vacation and apparently told his entire extended
family that he is getting baptized Mormon. So, he has been seeing some
crazy opposition but is really dedicated. Other than we still can't
get him to church! I don't know what's going on in his head.

Ali, ate at his house again but this time with the Austins. Really
good food. Ali is still taking his baptism really slowly. Atousa his
daughter/recent convert had a rough week. Her best friend Mandy cut
her out of all social media and won't answer texts or calls as well as
wrote some aggressive things about her. It's taken a toll on her.

Dennis, turned up at church last week and we taught him twice this
week. He came again yesterday and we plan on teaching him some more
this week. Dennis is cool. Really quiet guy. Makes instruments for
orchestras and something else. Like flutes. Is willing to take the
lessons so we are happy to teach him. Elder Underwood and him are like
best friends :P I just can't seem to make Dennis laugh!

Anywho, that's the week.

Well, we had a super awesome MLC. President a eu marre as some pretty
crazy stuff in the mission have been happening. President had a
"captain Moroni" moment. It really was legend.

We were able to see Jamel this week, she is doing well. She just told
her mom that she wants to get baptized and it sounds like she is going
to have a lot more opposition now. She will be baptized the 28th, so
next Sunday. We are stoked and she is super excited!

Ali is making steps forward but they are still small. He went to see a
doctor to help him quit smoking which is good. It just means that it's
going to take a little longer. Which is fine, all will be figured out
in due time. It sounds like we are going to eat at his house later

this week.

Yesterday a guy came to church that met two different teams of
missionaries while on the road and decided to come to church! His name
is Dennis and we fixed two appointments to see him this week :) He
makes instruments. Should be fun.

Hey so Elder Underwood and I had a fun week. Ali Finally came to
church and Jamel Finally came to church!!!!!! At long last they are
progressing.

We taught Ali about fasting this week. How we can fast as a way to
show god that we would like to have his spirit more in our lives. Or
we can fast just to be more spiritually strong. In Ali's case we
fasted that he would have better health and overcome cigarettes since
those seem to be his big problem right now.

Jamel. She came to church and almost sat all alone. Need to find her
some friends! But she is getting ready to get dunked so we are super
excited! She has a great spirit and already has a testimony of the
Book of Mormon! :)

Well, we are off to go do stuffs :P loves.

Subject: Week six in Geneva

So, Elder Wade left to go be assistant Monday morning. Monday was a
wreck! Litteraly, after putting the luggage in the car one of the side
doors was left open and as elder Lutu drove off the open door slammed
into another parked car. Our car took almost all of the damage. The
door doesn't swing straight or close...so we had one of the Tahitian
elders bend it back into place and slam it shut. It doesn't open now.

The rest of the week went pretty well after that :P we re fixed
baptismal dates for all three of our investigators and set some goals
to go out and find some new investigators.

Ali, saw him Tuesday and Thursday and talked about just reading the
scriptures daily, quitting smoking, and his new baptismal date. We
seemed re spark his desire to get baptized. So we refined the date for
the third of September. We ate at his house Sunday with brother Gag.
Brother Gag is a German member that used to be the bishop! Super
spiritual and good guy. At oust and Ali made some Iranian dish that
was super good as well as a tiramisu with chocolate and Carmel instead
of coffee. Also really well done.

Jamel, saw her Wednesday, I think, while on exchange. We read two
chapters in the Book of Mormon and answered all of her many questions
and talked about baptism. Refixed her date for the 28 of August! So we
will be seeing her more often to get her ready :)

Serge, doing well but still not coming to church. Wants to get
baptized the tenth of September. I worry about his date the most
especially because he says yes to everything we teach and talk about
but won't come to church. Still working on him.

Well, we got transfer calls a few days ago and I am going to stay and
receive Elder Underwood! Elder Lutu is heading for annecy. So still
being in the zone we should see him from time to time ;)

Well, it's looking like we are going to have a solid week :) Loves

Elder Keller
