We all needed a little sunshine and fresh air. Even Percy got up the first morning ready for a walk, it was the most energy he had all weekend. He made it out a couple more time, but when we tried to take him on a hike with us he gave up about 3/4 of a mile in. Thus the pictures of Ethan carrying him up the hill. Haha. I carried him down the same hill. Haha, Percy was like, "sucker!"
We went to a few different ponds to do some fishing, the biggest by far was My Grandpa's pond, or something like that. 15 minutes or so from Grandma and Papa Tingey's St. George house and we ate pretty good hamburgers at the golf course near by. The views from the golf course were beautiful. Hmm, I thought I took some pictures. We named lots of birds and ducks while on the trip thanks to Ana's Ornithology science class that she is taking this year.
We celebrated Ethan's birthday again, two small celebrations. One with cake and cousins and one with dinner and presents in St. George. I think Troy and the kids favorite place we ate at was Black Bear Diner. Yep, they love the diners. We did a couple simple hikes in Washington. One to Elephant Arch, which I thought was pretty cool. Most of the hike is in the sand along the river bed, but then you turn a corner and head up into some rocks and half a mile in there it is! A large trunk like arch jutting out of the hills. I thought it was cool and worth the hike. Ana didn't see the arch until we were leaving and talking about it, haha. So we pointed it out and I told her I took some pics of her standing at the bottom of the trunk/arch! Too funny :)
We also played some Frisbee golf on a all over the place course. Highlights were a motorized glider flying over head, one of Troy's Frisbee landing on the bank of the river - we thought it was going in it, and the soda machine in one of the yards boarding the park.
I tried to get the kids to drive to Zions National Park, 90 minute drive, with me and hike Angels Landing, but they wanted to lounge around before we headed back the next day. So we hiked up to some petroglyphs instead. They were cool and interesting, short easy hike. We did take the shorter back side up since we took Percy. He still didn't make it! Poor dog. So we split up and the kids checked things out while I stayed with the dog and then we switched.
Everyone got along well and we enjoyed the little break from everyday and the sunshine. I even got a little reading in. Then we headed home for the rest of spring break. Success!
