August Pictures

Troy got me this beautiful blue electric bike for my birthday!  An Early Birthday Present! We took it right up the mountain where I proceeded to crash into a rock and scrape up my let.  It is pretty fun to ride, a bit heavier than my road bike, but I think I'll enjoy being able to go up the mountain with Troy.

Ethan and Ethan went up to Utah State for Utah business week at the Huntsman business school.  They met some great kids and had a fun time together.  I went up to the dinner on the last night of the event so that I could pick Ethan up and head to Boise for the Keller Family Reunion!  2 in the morning we ended up getting a hotel room in Burley then continuing on at 7 am.  I just can't pull an all night drive anymore.  Ethan obviously needed a bit more sleep than I.  But we made it in time for the Keller boys to play basket ball and enjoyed a day of celebrating Grandpa Keller's 80th birthday!

Grant and Kirsten headed off to vacation in France in August, these were a few pictures I downloaded that they had sent to me.  These were at the Paris temple ground.  Very beautiful and it looked like they had a wonderful trip.  They even brought me back some more herbs.  When we went to France after Grant's mission he recommend this blend of herbs, called herbs of Province.  Loved them and used them all up, so I asked them to bring me back a big bag this time.  Totally worth picking them up at the airport and giving them a ride home :)

Hmmm, not sure where Ethan and Troy are at.  I'm guessing they are staying somewhere to fish!

Ethan and Ana went on a Sunday morning hike up Farmington Canyon.

 Just out and about on the Farmington Trail.  It reminded me a little bit of Texas that day, so I snapped a picture.

Costco run and the elevator decided not to run! So I had to haul it all upstairs, yes, it takes many trips up lots of stairs to unload Costco in this house.  That was one point to putting in the elevator.

Tiffany and Sawyer had some visitors this month.  Jason's brother stayed and his parents also stayed with us and they left us very yummy thank you treats! Some of my favorite.  We also had a visit from the Speirs family.  

Back to School!  Senior year for these two.  Good luck.

Sawyer had a week of birthday celebrations.  Georgia had done a fundraiser and made some awesome Sawyer hero gift boxes to give to other patients at Shriner's Hospital.  They were so really amazing.  She was able to deliver them to the hospital on Sawyer's therapy day.  The staff also celebrated Sawyers birthday with donuts and gifts.  Party central and probably Sawyer's best therapy day ever!

Date night with this amazing man!  We went to a movie and then stopped in at the Second Course shop by the theater.  Quite the deserts and delicious ice cream.

Volunteered with Karen, she was so nice and invited me to go serve in SLC.  We put together meal kits for families.  It was a lot of fun.

Fun fact of the week:In New Zealand, they eat the whole pumpkin, and not the seeds. They thought I was crazy when i tried to explain that we eat pumpkin seeds in October haha

This week has been one of the most exciting weeks of my mission for sure! For the first time I was in a trio with Sister Rumsey and Sister Isabell! So Sister Rumseys companion had to unexpectedly go home due to some health issues, and because of that she's in a trio with us since our areas are right next to each other. It's been hectic but a many good memories made! Sometimes having three people in one tiny flat is a little stuffy, but a lot of fun :) too much fun sometimes... It's only going to last til transfers (this Thursday), but it's still been an awesome time so far :)

Things in the area are going well! We have one person set, and she's progressing nicely! Her boyfriend is a member, and after learning a bit about his beliefs she opened up and started taking lessons from us. They're super cool! Then we visited someone who had been on pause for a bit, and she seems pretty ready to take lessons again so we hope that goes well :)

Spiritual thought: In my studies I am rereading Jesus the Christ, and the story of the Leper in Matthew 8 really stood out to me. In verse 2 he says "Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." The authors comment on that statement is that the Leper does not question whether Christ can make him whole. He is asking if Christ will make him whole. I think in my life there are often times where I am upset that something is going differently than I think it should be going. But I just need to take a step back and remember that all things can be done through Christ, but it is his will whether they happen or not. A good lesson in humility for me :)

Fun Story of the week: On Sundays, we stand by the doors and welcome people into the sacrament room every week. This week, we had a little 4 year old boy stand next to us and shake everybody's hand as they walked in. It was adorable, until sacrament started but he refused to close the door so he could shake everyone's hand and it took 5 minutes before the priests could bless the sacrament... He's gonna be such a good missionary some day :,)

This week has been a week! It started out great when we had a lesson on Wednesday and our mission Presidents wife came! She really made our friend we have been working with for a while feel comfortable, and she opened up about her past. That Sunday she came to church! (well, just the second hour but trust me, we were thrilled about that) We were so grateful she took the time out of her busy week to come with us and give us advice on how to best work with our people :)

This weekend was fantastic because we had 2 baptsims!! Kaylee, a girl Sister Isabell and her past companion have been working with for quite some time, was baptized on Friday. A lot of her nonmember family came, and we can tell their hearts were touched as we could feel the spirit strongly as she was baptized :) Then on Saturday, Phoenix, who was someone I found and taught in Nawton with Sister Fonua and Meto (#Throwbacks) was baptized on Saturday! Even though it wasn't in my area, I was able to attend and give a talk before the baptism. It was such a sweet and spiritual weekend :)

For my spiritual thought I'd like to tell a story! (full of stories today...) So we are working with a girl who's dad is very less active but she was sort of interested in taking the lessons. In their home, they have 4 cats, a mother with 3 kittens. My first time we visited, it REEKED of cat urine. I had to go home and wash my jacket because it still smelled so badly. This last time we visited them, it still smelled pretty horribly. We asked the mom what she had been up to that day, and she told us she had been super busy cleaning the ceiling. I had to suppress a laugh, because the house was a bit of a mess and didn't smell too great. But it got me thinking. In our lives, do we ever try to clean up the little sins, when there is something big we know we need to work on? Sometimes we will spend time cleaning the ceiling, even though we know it won't make that much of an impact on our lives as if we cleaned the rest of the house. I invite each of you to think of something you have been putting off, whether it be repenting or studying or anything gospel related, and work on it this week.

The Party Week!

Fun Fact: The weather here is almost as bipolar as in Utah... It violently rains for about 30 minutes then stops, then is windy for two hours then sunny. It's been a fun adjustment :)

Heyyya!

This week was so FUN! It was my birthday on Tuesday, and that day was so fantastic! Our District Leader made me an ice cream cake, then cute sister Meto made a video compilation for me and a wreath of Whittakers chocolate bars! (my favourite!) Then for dinner we went to this members home, and they made enchiladas (FINALLY SOME MEXICAN FOOD), found american rootbeer, and made a cake for me! It was such a fun day :) Also shout out to my mama for sending a package with cute dresses and stateside peanut butter! The absolute best :)

The rest of this week was jam packed! We had no time to do finding because we have had 2-3 lessons every day this week! We also have someone set for the 9th of August, and another person set for the 31st of August! Heavenly Father is definitely blessing Rototuna :)

We also went on exchanges which is super fun! I was with Sister Allred, for the 3rd time?? I have no idea how we have been together so many times but apparently Heavenly Father really wants us to learn something from each other haha...

President and Sister Erekson are amazing! Sister Erekson asked to come out with us tomorrow for one of our lessons we are having with someone we've been working with for ages. We are super pumped to have her come so we can learn more from her :) she's never served a mission before, so she's super motivated and ready! President Erekson is also very motivating. He sends out how many baptisms our mission has every week, and so far it's been 3 or 4, which is a lot for our mission! We feel their constant love and it encourages us to be better missionaries.

I hope you know that I love you all! The Lord is truly proud of any efforts that we put into missionary work. If you continue to share your testimony with those around you, I promise He will allow them to feel the spirit and in turn have a desire to learn more about this gospel. you are amazing!
