Fun fact of the week:
To use the outlets in New Zealand, you have to turn the switch above them on. Which is really annoying when you've been ironing the same shirt for 20 minutes wondering why it's not heating up...
This week has been a week!
We have been traveling HEAPS. On Thursday we drove up to Rotorua for an interview with our mission president, which is about 1 1/2 hours away from here. It was super rainy but also gorgeous (as literally all of NZ is). Then on Friday we drove up to Whakatane (pronounced Fakatanay), which is 40 minutes away, for a dentist appointment for sister ieremia, then back to Opotiki, then through Whakatane again all the way to Tauranga, which is about 2 hours away. So we got to travel all around our Zone and see all the pretty sights! (That was a lot of misused commas, my Writing 105 teacher is cringing)
The big downside to traveling is that there were nearly two days we weren't in our area. So the work is really slowing down which breaks my heart. Next week is transfers so if I get a new companion I'll have to introduce her to members and the people we're teaching, and it might take a while to get back into the rhythm of things. All will be well in the end, but its gonna be slow right now.
One muy fun activity we did this week was caroling with our branch!! We made a list of less actives in our area, and we walked around and sang to them. The best part was that as we were doing this, we had two different families come up to us and ask us to sing to them! Its so cool how the Christmas spirit encourages others to uplift and serve others!
The weather this week has been carazy. When we were driving up to Rotorua I felt a bit like I was back in Texas because it was pouring and flooding. But Friday it started to get super super hot, which was good and bad for caroling. We were just glad it wasn't raining Haha.
Nothing much else has happened this week! I've been bitten like 100 times by these annoying as little bugs. That's been no bueno. Other than that things are good here in Opotiki.
I hope yous all had the opportunity to watch the Christmas devotional! I really loved the story President Nelson shared about faith, it almost put me to tears. (I think the mission is making me more emotional....)
I hope yous all have a good week!!
Much love!
