The island that we stayed on with it's two active volcanoes. I guess the last time they erupted was in 2000 & 2009.
My rain jacket that I took to wear and this was the closest I ever got to using it.
We stopped at a school to hand out some sports equipment. Then we stopped to hand out candy to these kids and we found out that it was a school for the def.
cows and animals were in the road all the time. In fact one of our first days in Nicaragua we almost hit a white horse that wouldn't get out of the road. Active volcanoes are nothing compared to the dangers of the domesticated animals : )

These birds are a lot prettier than our magpies, but scavengers just the same. Where ever there was food these birds seemed to gather.

We spent the rest of our day reading and walking around the town. These women were fishing or collecting something off of the bottom of the lake with this net. They would let it out and then walk around and when they would pull it up they would put things in the little girls bag. There was a cute little boy and he walked along the beach for a while and wasn't too sure about walking in front of us. So I offered him the rest of our sour patch kids and he finally ran up and grabbed them and ran past us. The little girl swam in and took some out to the women in the lake.
We had a huge lunch so Amy and I had ice cream with fruit and fries for dinner, oh and very yummy hot chocolate.
We found this little fellow in our bathroom. Amy had me all freaked out about getting round worms and that's what I thought it was until I got home and zoomed in and could see it had legs. It must be some type of centipede.
This is where I spent my morning while Amy was swimming. Just uploading pictures and reading my book. Very nice morning.

My camera died on me here. So these next pictures are from Amy's camera. On our way back we stopped at the Messiah Volcanoes. It was like we walked into Mordor in Lord of the Rings. Black rock, steam, smoke. They say at night to can see the lava because it glows red. That would have been cool to see. We were all coughing after a few minutes due to the gases, then we read the sign that asks you not to stay in the area for longer than 20 minutes because you can get sick from the gases.
Our hotel room back at the Colonial. I wish I had pictures of the other rooms at this hotel, they were a bit cooler - I liked the stamped tiles, one was blue with green stamps and the other room was yellow on yellow stamps. This room was just brown, but more importantly had wifi access!
